Gravity Geolocation Release Notes

Last modified: September 21, 2026

Review the latest stable Gravity Geolocation releases, including new features, improvements, compatibility changes, security updates, and fixes.

Gravity Geolocation 3.5.2

Released September 21, 2026

This maintenance release fixes how stored geolocation values are read. Accented and other Unicode characters, Unicode escapes, and literal backslashes now remain intact when location data is decoded.

  • Updated the embedded WPGeo Framework to 1.0.0-rc6.

Google Maps API reminder: Gravity Geolocation 3.5 uses Places API (New) and Routes API. The temporary fallbacks introduced in 3.5.1 remain available for existing Address Autocomplete and Directions fields, but they do not cover every feature. Review the Google Maps API setup guide.

Gravity Geolocation 3.5.1

Released September 20, 2026

Version 3.5.1 is a compatibility hotfix for customers transitioning to the Google Maps services used by Gravity Geolocation 3.5.

Action required: Enable Places API (New) and Routes API for complete Gravity Geolocation 3.5 functionality. The temporary legacy fallbacks in this release cover existing Address Autocomplete and Directions fields only. Review the Google Maps API key setup guide.

  • Compatibility: Added temporary legacy Google Places autocomplete and Directions fallbacks for existing sites that have not yet enabled Places API (New) or Routes API.
  • Admin: Added a persistent, dismissible API-setup notice directing administrators to enable Places API (New) and Routes API for complete functionality.
  • Fix: Preserved readable, formatted Directions instructions when the legacy Directions fallback is active.
  • Dependency: Bundled WPGeo Framework 1.0.0-rc5 while retaining 1.0.0-rc4 as the minimum compatible shared runtime for mixed-plugin installations.
  • Maintenance: Updated the embedded EDD Software Licensing SDK to 1.0.4 for license-management hardening, improved host compatibility, and reliable WP-CLI updates.

Gravity Geolocation 3.5.0

Released September 17, 2026

Version 3.5 is the largest update in Gravity Geolocation’s history. It introduces a new package structure, expands the available location workflows, adds Gravity Search, and rebuilds the plugin on the embedded WPGeo Framework.

New Package Options

  • Gravity Location: Collect addresses, coordinates, map-selected locations, and users’ current positions.
  • Gravity Directions: Calculate distance and travel time, display routes, and provide directions.
  • Gravity Geolocation Toolkit: Use the complete set of form-focused geolocation features and entry maps.
  • Gravity Search: Search, filter, map, and display Gravity Forms entries on the frontend.
  • All Access: Combine Gravity Geolocation Toolkit and Gravity Search in one plugin package and license.

New and Expanded Features

  • Added address autocomplete, synchronized geocoding, map selection, coordinates, current-location tools, and dynamic location data through Gravity Location.
  • Added focused distance, duration, route-map, and turn-by-turn direction workflows through Gravity Directions.
  • Added Google Address Validation workflows for reviewing and standardizing submitted addresses.
  • Added Nearest Locations workflows for finding and selecting nearby stores, branches, offices, providers, and other configured destinations.
  • Added geographic Drawing Tools for collecting points, lines, polygons, rectangles, circles, and freehand shapes.
  • Added Single Entry Map and Mashup Map tools for displaying saved Gravity Forms entries.
  • Added Gravity Search for building frontend searches, directories, listings, maps, portals, and entry-details pages directly from Gravity Forms entries.

Architecture, Compatibility, and Reliability

  • Rebuilt the plugin on the embedded WPGeo Framework, removing the need to install a separate framework plugin.
  • Added package-aware feature loading so each package exposes the features included with that license.
  • Added a migration for existing license data, plugin settings, Auto Locator configuration, and legacy field options.
  • Preserved existing customer license terms and entitlements through the new package structure.
  • Added compatibility with Gravity Forms 3 while retaining supported legacy Gravity Forms behavior.
  • Improved migration reliability so incomplete settings or license migrations remain retryable.
  • Updated plugin settings, dashboard integration, account connections, installation, and package-switching workflows.

Existing customers should use the package provided in their account for their license. Package names describe the capabilities included in each build and do not replace existing customer entitlements.
